Antigua, Guatemala boasts gorgeous vistas just about everywhere you look – it’s a beautiful city located in the country’s central highlands. These four spots offer the best vantage points for viewing the city and its surrounding mountains and volcanoes.
1._Hobbitenango
Whether or not you’re a Lord of the Rings fan, a visit to this eco-hotel and restaurant built into a mountain near Antigua is a must. You can choose to live in the quaint hobbit-styled accommodations during your stay in Guatemala or you could just visit for the views and the yummy food in the on-site restaurant.
2. Cerro de la Cruz
This is a two for one special… makes a great morning or evening workout as you have to climb +/- 300 steps to get to the top but you’re rewarded with beautiful views of the city of Antigua, and the volcanoes Agua to the south and Fuego and Acatenango to the west.
3. Restaurant Cerro San Cristobal
San Cristobal is an organic farm and restaurant located on the mountainside. You’re free to explore the farm to your heart’s content – enjoy walking through acres of fruit trees, vegetable crops and flowers before settling down at the alfresco restaurant for a meal with a view.
4. El Tenedor del Cerro
Hop aboard the free shuttle from Hotel Santo Domingo and head up to El Tenedor for breakfast or lunch and superb aerial views of Antigua. You can also shop at the local artisan market on-site or tackle the zip lines if you’re feeling for a rush.
